CONVERSATION PIECE
We got to visit Central Middle School where our students will be going to school next year. They got to see some old friends and met some new friends too. They got to meet their teacher and see their classroom. The students seemed very excited for next year.
This week we discussed the new movie out in theatres called Dolphins. The movie is a documentary about dolphins and includes other sea animals such as: whales, sharks, and sea turtles. Students got to see some videos of the different animals in their habitat and talked about the different characteristics each type of animal has.
Students celebrated Mrs. Spingolas birthday on Friday by making her a birthday card and a cake. Students suprised her with a cake in her office and sang Happy Birthday to her.
Current Event This Week
This week we will be discussing Zero Waste. Zero Waste is a popular idea now, where zero waste means thowing away less. The goal is try to use items again and again.
Students will participate in a science experiment this week, where students will look at cards with examples of waste. With the help of a Waste Chart, they will discuss and sort the cards into different kinds of waste. These Waste Cards will represent different items they may use or waste they may create at lunchtime. They will sort thte cards into recycable, compostable, reusable, and something else.
Craft
Students will take a nature walk and collect objects from nature. Students will bring them back and make their own suncatcher with the nature items.
Cooking
This weeks recipe is Zero Sandwich. Students will use the following ingredients: honey mustart, bagel, ham, Swiss cheese, and pinapple rings. Please contact me ASAP if you would not like your child to consume any of the above ingredients.
Life Skills
This week we will be learning how to fold shirts.
